Dry grass nests on the rocks of Domboshava, Zimbabwe
Trees were not prevalent in the Biennale grounds, and the few existing ones were integrated into installations, like this soundscape with floating speakers in organic shapes, simulating a bird concert for the visitors.
At the time of my visit, dry weather marked the transition from fall into winter in Zimbabwe. The grass consisted mainly of silvery strands on these rocks, but the lichens showed beautiful soft colors.

From what I’ve found on the web, those cave paintings date back 5000-6000 years. Domboshava is supposed to have been a spiritual center regarding a cult of rain, and it was declared a national monument already in 1936.
Right behind this dry grass hide wonderful cave paintings, supposedly dating from 5000 to 6000 years ago. According to archeologists they were used in rain ceremonies, well necessary in a country sometimes as dry as seen here.
