    1. Juha, Venice certainly is the place where the traces of the individual lives seem to be more visible than in most other places than I’ve ever been to. I guess the absence of the normal city development with roads et al. allows old structures and with them the auras of lives past to influence the mood and the feelings.

    1. Carl, it’s the most banal thing imaginable: a pizza box. I admit having been tempted to clone it out, but decided against it: What fascinates me in Venice is not the old substance, but the way it lives in the presence.
