    1. Makes one smile, isn’t it? The cucumber is a well loved food in Austria, mostly addressed lovingly in the diminuitiv “Gurkerl”, and can also be seen as a symbol for a kind of a micro-bourgeois smugness. This is probably what the artist wanted to hint at.
