forgot the best picture in the series… fishermen at the beach of Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. the men in the boat have laid out the net in an almost perfect semi-circle. now the men on the shore prepare to tow the net in. where this photo was taken? have a look at flickr.yuan.cc/maps/springm
preparing for market
fishermen at the beach of Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. removing the bycatch, including sea snakes, and sorting the fish is the last task. everything went by in quiet mutual understanding, only rarely a command was heard. last of series. where this photo was taken? have a look at flickr.yuan.cc/maps/springm
the catch is safe
fishermen at the beach of Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. nice catch, safely brought in. due to the civil war situation, market opportunities however are little. The road trip from Batticaloa to Colombo takes 8h plus, even if there are no road blocks. where this photo was taken? have a look at google maps.
the net is almost in
fishermen at the beach of Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. Now the net is almost ashore and the tension eases up. Slowly they are heaving the load in, and some of them secure the lower rim of the net in order not to loose any fish.
hot on the trail of fish
fishermen at the beach of Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. Silently they were watching the surface of the sea, but suddenly the started gesticulating and shouting, then discussing the best strategy for a catch with their muscular driven boats.
safe pool, Ambalangoda beach
sudden high waves splashing into the pool gave an additional thrill to the kids bathing in there.
waves, Ambalangoda beach, Sri Lanka
cloudy skies, sometimes the waves came through. off season the place was not crowded and gave enough opportunities to enjoy the play of the waves.
St. Johann Nepomuk (Asamkirche) in Munich
I love the overwhelming impression that the interior of this church imposes on the visitor through its narrowness and height.

Ambalangoda beach, Sri Lanka
As work and family take it’s toll, again I found no time for taking pictures. So this is from the archives again.
mt. Watzmann in bavaria
I do love this backlight, pre-bad-weather situations. Late in autumn the woods are very dark, burying all their energy deep inside for next spring. Picture taken last year with an Oly C-8080WZ
statue of St. Florian in Bad Reichenhall
St. Florian is the patron against fire. His statue is in the oldest part of Bad Reichenhall
St. Ägidius in Bad Reichenhall
I love the strong geometric elements of the tower of St. Ägidius church in Bad Reichenhall, my hometown.
the torture of choice
from the archives: off season you are easy prey for the beach vendors. and then, making a choice can be a torture.

reflections in the city (II)
the artificial climate I feel in the city is (for me) very well represented through this reflected tree.
reflections in the city
I do love the city lights at night, especially when they emphasize parts of the architecture not visible during the daylight.
new synagogue in Munich (II)
Detail from the basis. I like the contrast between this very strict sober styleand some of the old houses in the surroundings.
new synagogue in Munich
The outside pretty much emphatises the Wailing wall. The building is discussedcontroversely here in Munich, but for me it evokes positive emotions, and it is a challenge to cope with it’s aesthetics.
