Even back then, a settlement structure that is exclusively adapted to pedestrians (and cattle) was extraordinary. Now of course a track for 4WD vehicles exists, and accomodations for tourists are plenty. It still is a strenous walk around the Annapurnas, but not that kind of adventure any more.
