The last post of the Harare series. In hindsight, I was not able to make as good use of the opportunities as intended, but a mix of private and business reasons got in the way. Hopefully there will be a next time.

At least the fears of getting robbed that had accompagnied my first visits have subsided – of course one should never be careless and behave appropriately, but all my encounters were of the friendly kind, and all locals reassured me that open street violence, which is all to common in South Africa, is something unheard of in Zimbabwe. It’s still no country for holidays, but that is a personal difficulty I have with countries, where a majority of people is struggling and suffering: I can’t suppress this awareness, and I can’t relax under such circumstances.
