That is a gorgeous building. It would be wonderful if modern cities dedicated that much space to pedestrians. Cars tend to be given priority here in Australia.
Cedric, Torino was the Italian capital for some time, and the king loved to walk through the town. Now a king doesn’t carry an umbrella against sun or rain, so those roads had to get arcades. In contemporary light this sounds wise, but the rest of Torino fights as much with motorized traffic as all other cities do. But of course in young places there are no inhibitions to build runways for cars and forget everything else…
