Via Po, Turin, (osm)

The Mole Antonelliana was planned as the highest Synagogue in the world by the Jewish community of Torino, but when the political circumstances changed and Torino lost its importance as capital to Florence in 1864, there was not enough money available any more to finish that extravagant showcase of architectural art. So the city of Torino took over and the “Mole Antonelliana” played its role in the risorgimento movement, the resurrection of Italian self confidence.
