Mole Antonelliana was planned as the highest Synagogue in the world by the Jewish community of Torino, but when the political circumstances changed and Torino lost its importance as capital to Florence in 1864, there was not enough money available any more to finish that extravagant showcase of architectural art. So the city of Torino took over and the “Mole Antonelliana” played its role in the risorgimento movement, the resurrection of Italian self confidence.
What a great image – I love the contrast between the blue tones in the shade and the warm tones. Fabulous reflection and framing too. Bravo!
Thanks, Martina! Such urban landmarks oft lend to postcard style photographs, but I definitely wanted something different.
