Keleti Train Station

. Tagged with Urban
Budapest, Hungary

Hard to believe that this is “just a train station”. But when it was built (1881-1884), such architecture was used to showcase and aggrandize the Austro-Hungarian Imperial and Royal splendor. No talking of a lean state at that time.

  1. Martina, Juha: Certainly this is beauty built to last. The young generation nowadays probably doesn’t know much about the Habsburg empire, but buildings like this survive their founders and are still messengers of their genious.

  2. … no followups … 🙁 I’ll switch from “all” to “replies to my comments” and will see what happens …

    1. Sorry – I hate that: it’s just what computers are NOT meant for: behaving unrelieable, erratic. Don’t they know about Turing?

  3. Problem is the humans who write software 😉

No followup for this one … nothing in my spam-folder … I’ll go back into the kitchen and have a look at my jam-to-be .. doesn’t work either … does not thicken …

    1. Well, it’s probably no turing-jam.

I looked into the subscription page, and your email address is not there. Now i am trying the subscription function with a different browser, incognito, and test the subscription mechanism.

    1. OK, this one is in the subscriptions list, but not yet activated.

You should have gotten a double-opt-in email, in which you have to click the approval link.

What I do fear is that the webhoster is the culprit, as sometimes the server sends no pages, meaning that internally it has aborted the request, and then of course it won’t send mail either. Carl has complained as well (but now he has other problems, probably he can’t even type any more, fingers frozen at 10° in the house)

    1. REM – those phases in the sleep? (I am kidding, just listened to it on youtube)

Re. the jam: you don’t want to tell me that you deprived the Bot. Gardens of its assets to cook JAM, do you?
If it’s similar to our quinces, then it should be really fine. We have one small quince tree in our garden, and sometimes the roes leave one or two for us humans.

  4. Hey, they were just lying around on the ground. Some were even black and foul. No one uses them! So …
    Please don’t tell anyone!

And no, I didn’t get a follow-up for this one. But in the end it’s okay … after two or three days I remember that perhaps I should go to the blog directly instead and see what’s up … 😉
