Writing WordPress-posts with the iphone proved to be overly difficult due to the small screen – and admittedly in the evening I was simply too tired to spend a lot of time with it after several hours of cycling.

The third day started rainy, with a walk through Bad Gastein as we were scheduled for the shuttle train undercutting Tauern mountains in the early afternoon only. There is a cascade in the middle of the village, which was filled already with brown waters due to the rain. At the foot of the cascade sits a old power plant that is converted now into a café.

The majorities of cyclists on these long distance bike paths use electric bikes and travel in organised groups – and there was a number of this flocks! To get away from them we had to use the downhill passages – they always use their brakes there – because we stood no chance on the climbs: those motors are just too powerful in comparison to a human body.

All in all we were lucky on that third day: 45min cycling in the rain on the northern side of the alps, mostly sunny weather on the southern side, and a traditional dish of Carinthian “Knödel” (dumplings) to fill up energy reserves.
