An interesting door, to be sure; however, my eye is immediately drawn to the red and white pole, or perhaps, cane. Here, when you see a person with a red and white cane, it indicates that they are blind. That adds a bit of mystery to this photo. 🙂
Talk about cultural differences, Paul! The red and white pole can be extended to the middle of the boardwalk and then serves as a warning on impending snow avalanches from the roof – winter in Vienna can easily bring 20″ of snow. Oh yes, and the canes of blind people here are pure white.
