What a really good photograph! I can totally relate to it, it’s just the sort of thing we all walk past so much but never really take notice of. The way you’ve managed to capture the glowing sign, the wet paved areas and the sky which appears to be clearing after a storm, the dog waiting for it’s owner who has probably entered the shop is excellent. It really tells a story.
Thanks, Colin! It was a wonderful light just between two rain showers, and the colors of the dispensary neon writing contrasted in a perfect way with the reddish glow on the wet asphalt. The lamp post added an interesting geometry, while the dog brought in the necessary human, err, animalistic touch. Yes, I was lucky here, and maybe rewarded for not having turned back in the rain.
