In earlier times, such a subject would have called for a view camera in order to remove negative perspective effects on the verticals. But how would you have set up such gear from a boat? In my film days I had done perspective correction under the enlarger (not really successfully, as I couldn’t tilt the lens, just stop down), so I am more than happy about the electronic tilt/shift now available in postprocessing.
