going to the zoo still is fun for the younger kids, but leaves me more unhappy than ever.

his gaze, going past those bars, has got so misted
with tiredness, it can take in nothing more.
he feels as though a thousand bars existed,
and no more world beyond them than before.

    I know the feeling. I always come away feeling sorrow for the animals. A person can tell they aren’t happy.

    Very nice focus on the boy. I like how you can just barely make out the leopard(?) in the background.

    And adding to that that there are more and more species that ONLY survive in zoos as we deliberately destroyed their natural habitat…
