Never Again

Königsplatz, Munich

In November 2018 we celebrate the 100 anniversary of the end of World War I. For this reason, the German artist Walter Kuhn plants over 3000 poppy red silk flowers on one of the most beautiful squares of Munich: Königsplatz, which was built under Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (who thanks-God was much more interested in Greek architecture than wars), but heavily disfigurated under the Nazi-regime, which abused it for parades).

The silk flowers, which stand for the victims of all wars, get sewn in Bosnia, not far away from Sarajewo where WWI started. This performance unfortunately is up-to-time more than ever, now that bellicist, racist and nationalist rhetorics have become widely accepted, even sought after again.

Here some links to further information: The homepage of “Never again” and a background article in German language “Mohnblumen aus Seide für den Königsplatz.
